This scatterplot shows the comparison of the american public's view of rich people and people on welfare. The most responses for approval of people on welfare came between 40 and 70 showing that the majority of the american public seems to tolerate people on welfare. nobody is saying "we need more people on welfare" but on the other hand not many people seem to hate them either. As far as in comparison to the public's view of rich people the responses seem to indicate that the rich have a majority of their approval between 50 and 70 putting the public's view of them higher than that of people on welfare.

(Nobody is saying we need more people on welfare, but that's because they aren't being asked that! But some people really like people on welfare, you can't say nobody likes people on welfare. Maybe those people literally want more people on welfare--who knows? You can't say.)

Feelings towards the rich and white people by the voting public in 2008

TUrichvs.white.jpg

The correlation between the american public's view of rich people and white people shows that while there is some pattern between how the American public feels about rich people and white people there isn't a very strong correlation. the majority of those polled said that white people are generally positively viewed by the public as the majority of the responses put white peoples approval rating over 50. On the other hand the general view of rich people is more spread evenly throughout with slightly more disapproval than white people.

Correlation between public's view of poor people and people on welfare

0.4452829

The correlation between the public's view of poor people and the public's view of people on welfare is generally the same. having a correlation of .445 showing that while there is a pattern between the two the general consensus is that the poor have a very high approval rating while people on welfare have a much lower average approval. While the results are skewed in that respect they still have a positive correlation.

(Skewed is a technical term, we haven't spent much time on it so it's not a big deal--but either look it up and use it carefully or maybe just don't! This is all very good though. Not crazy about the big colored font, personally. Also, in the future try to formulate your summaries/explanations more directly from thinking about the math. Talk about the math, explain the math-- not so much the numbers and graphs that appear in your results, but explain and summarize how those calculations and graphs were generated. Also, give everything a good proofreading, grammar and spell check, capitalize words at the beginning of each sentence, you know, all of that! In the long run the little things really matter. Good job overall!)
